[gallery td_select_gallery_slide="slide" ids="33003,33002,33000,33001"] Jun Atienza JEDDAH — After nearly two months of intense competition among the various tennis clubs in Jeddah, Astec (Association of Tennis Clubs) successfully concluded its 28th tournament, the 7th Al Baik Tennis Challenge 2015. The event, which attracted about 60 teams in both men's and ladies divisions, was held at the tennis courts of Trio-Ranch Country Club. The winners were honored at the awards ceremony held at Kenanh Hotel recently. It was attended by representative from the Philippine Consulate General Office in Jeddah, Vice Consul Alexander J. Estomo, and Bassam Al-Seyofi, PR Manager of Al Baik, the major sponsor. Plaques and certificates were handed over to other tournament sponsors (Deltaz Marketing, SIPCO, Skyfreight Forwarders) and trophies were distributed to all winners, and a sumptuous dinner capped the event to bring down the curtain on the year-ending tournament. Special awards Best singles — Ricky Delgado (Cat. B1), Gerardo Catalan (Cat. B2), Ricky Salazar Jr. and Alito Macadat shared the honor in Cat. C. Best doubles — Louie Abalos/Edwin Aquino (Cat. C), Ramil Abdua/Amin Paraji (Cat. B2), Gerardo Catalan/Jeremy Condrado (Cat. L-Mix), Melvin Rama/Roy Felix (Cat. "M-Mix), Tonton Pana/Cesar Panti and Bok Gregorio/Mark Lidres (Cat. B1), Maarouf Pantaran/Noroden Pangcoga (Cat. "H-Mix"). Ladies Division Best Doubles — Ghie Asmiralde/Liberty Apacionado (Lower Mix) and Nympha Sakay/Sheila Harris (Higher Mix). ATP-Mon Tennis Club was awarded the Best in Uniform in Categories C, B2, and Lower Mix. Other awardees were: Saudi Oger and Friends Tennis Club (Cat. M-Mix), Uricane (Ladies H-Mix), and Bavaria Taif (Ladies L-Mix). In team competition, Issham International (Uricane Tennis Club) bagged the major awards with three titles in Categories Lower Mix and B2 in the men's division and Higher Mix-Ladies Division.
