In an endeavor to empower excellence and raise awareness among students in Saudi Arabia about Indian history and its composite culture and rich national heritage, Indian School Parents Forum (ISPAF) recently organized "Quiz India 2016" in Jeddah. Thameem Bayazeed of New Al Wurood International School bagged the first prize in senior category while Ameena Rahman (International Indian School –Jeddah -IISJ) became the winner of first prize in junior category. Mishal Mohammed Abdul Majeed and Mohammed Fayez Kadooran, both from IISJ, won the second and third positions in senior category respectively. In junior segment, Jefri Shijo (IISJ) won second place while Muhammed Sameel (New Al-Wurood) bagged third position.
First place winners in both categories were given laptops as a token of appreciation in addition to certificates whereas second prize winners were given a Samsung Tab and third prize winners received a bestseller book. The quiz competition was based on general knowledge, talent and memory skills of the competitors in various branches of knowledge including history, geography, culture and current affairs of India.
The preliminary round of competitions were held at IISJ (Girls' Section) with the participation of more than 200 students in which 60 students were qualified to compete in the second round by classifying them into two different categories — junior and senior. Six talented teens qualified to compete in the final round of the competition. The total process took 9 rounds of rigorous quizzes with the support of visuals. Parents of all participating students were present at the final round and many of them were excited and overwhelmed to witness the mind-blowing performance of their children.
