Galchenyuk lifts Canadiens over Islanders
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 11 - 2015

Alex Galchenyuk broke a tie with 3:29 left and Max Pacioretty added an empty-net goal to lift the Montreal Canadiens over the New York Islanders 4-2 Sunday night to complete a weekend home-and-home sweep.
Galchenyuk one-timed a pass from P.K. Subban for this third goal of the season during a power play. About 2 minutes later, the Islanders were called for too many men and Travis Hamonic was given a game misconduct penalty, setting up Pacioretty's power-play empty-netter.
David Desharnais also scored on the power play for his seventh goal and Tomas Fleishmann added his seventh this season for Montreal. Carey Price made 21 saves and the Canadiens followed a 5-3 win over the Islanders Friday night with another victory.
John Tavares gave New York a 1-0 lead late in the first period, and Anders Lee made it 2-1 Islanders with 8:07 left in the third.
Hurricanes 4, Kings 3: Carolina defenseman Justin Faulk scored two power-play goals as the Hurricanes beat the Los Angeles Kings.
Carolina came into the game 0-1-3 at home over the last 10 days, but were able to jump out to a three-goal lead early in the second period, chasing starting goalie Jonathan Quick after two periods.
Faulk's two goals extended his points streak to five games and has a team-leading 15 points in 20 games.
Los Angeles center Anze Kopitar pulled the Kings to 4-3 midway through the third with a power-play goal, but the Hurricanes were able to hold off the Kings.
Sharks 5, Blue Jackets 3: Down two goals early in the third period, the San Jose Sharks scored three times in just over seven minutes to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3 at Nationwide Arena.
For the first time in Sharks history, they swept a six-game road trip, one that started nine days earlier in Detroit and wound through Buffalo, Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Devils 3, Canucks 2: Mike Cammalleri scored a goal and collected two assists as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-2.
Defenseman Andy Greene, on a power play, and Adam Henrique also scored for the Devils (11-8-1).
Henrik Sedin, short-handed, and Radim Vrbata, on a power play with 0.6 seconds left, scored for the Canucks. Vancouver (8-8-6) have just one win in their past six games (1-4-1). — Agencies
