‘Global efforts needed to root out terrorism'
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 17 - 11 - 2015

RIYADH — The Council of Ministers on Monday called on the international community to redouble its joint efforts to stamp out the scourge of terror, which targets the security and stability of the entire globe without any exception.
The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Muhammad Bin Naif at Al-Yamama Palace here, condemned the recent deadly terror attacks in the French and Lebanese capitals, killing and wounding hundreds of innocent civilians.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Social Affairs and Acting Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi said the Cabinet offered Saudi Arabia's condolences to the governments and people of France and Lebanon on the death of the victims, and wished speedy recovery for those injured.
"The Kingdom renews its calls to unify and double the international efforts to fight the scourge of terrorism, which is rejected by all heavenly religions, customs, and international conventions."
The Cabinet also underscored the significance of the G20 Summit, which is being held at a time when the world is witnessing critical economic and political circumstances that require unification of the world's position to confront these issues.
"The participation of the Saudi delegation, headed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, in the summit reflects the prestigious status being enjoyed by the Kingdom under the King's leadership and the effective role it is playing politically and economically at the regional and international arenas."
The Cabinet hailed the speech of King Salman at the dinner session held in honor of leaders and heads of delegations participating in the summit with the theme of "Global challenges: terrorism and refugees crisis."
It noted that King's speech specially referred to the denunciation of the recent Paris attack, as well as called on the world community to redouble its efforts to eradicate terrorism and rid the world of its evils.
Al-Qasabi said the Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom's keenness to steadfastly and firmly fight this plague, as well as the need for cooperation and collective initiative to reach solutions to the critical challenges facing the world in addressing issues such as terrorism or refugees problem.
While lauding the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the National Anti-Narcotics Committee, in implementing the National Project for Preventing Drugs (Nebras), the Cabinet called on all relevant agencies to contribute to this project.
It also praised the efforts of all security agencies in preventing drug trafficking and arresting those involved in it.
After reviewing a report from the Ministry of Interior regarding railroad encroachments, Al-Qasabi said, the Cabinet approved the creation of the Higher Authority for Industrial Security to supervise rail roads and the railway's facilities in between the cities.
