Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) received 40,321 cases during the last 10 years. Most of the cases are administrative and related to dealing with public directorates, a source in the society said. "We received a total of 11,973 administrative cases. Out of these, 7,304 cases were prison related, 4,289 cases about workers' rights. 3,312 civil status cases and 3,125 of the cases were about domestic violence," said the source. The source also said 5,109 of the cases were classified as others. "A total of 3,069 were personal status cases and 1,637 judicial cases. There were 613 cases of child abuse and they are the least type of cases received by the society. "That is due to the fact that the child abuse department at the society started operating only five years ago," said the source. The least number of cases were received in 2005 and 2010 was the year with the most cases received. "The society received a total of 1,114 cases in 2005. It received a total of 4,783 cases in 2010," said the source.
