EKIS seals top spot

JEDDAH: With EKIS ahead by 26 points from the closest rival Make My Day (573-547) team captain Ernie Geslani ensured top position by out-pointing Pinoy Salo-salo at 11-9, while Lance & 3rdy blanked Bowling Idols to be the City Restaurant Team of the Week on the 26th and last session of the elimination round of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group-sanctioned Friday Morning Bowling League 10th conference at the Bowling City here.
Knowing the possibility of being dislodged from top, EKIS made sure to take the scratch sets wherein Zaldy Bacero sizzled with 633. This usual reinforcement of Bacero was responded well by Cora Agas, Willie Ansis, Rudy Carillo, Jimmy Leonida and Geslani to have EKIS swept the scratch match totaled at 3,187-2,854.
Pinoy Salo-salo, on the other hand, capitalized with their handicap advantage (205-93) to out-score EKIS on games 1 and 3 at 1,157-1,058 and 1,191-1,166 to edge the overall outcome at 3,469-3,466. But with EKIS brushing off game 2 at 1,242-1,121 Geslani and teammates settled better in points. Notably scoring for EKIS were Bacero (633), Ansis (623) and Carillo (616). Fred Cuenca top-scored at PSS with 622 with help coming from Serge Rivera, Sol Cuenca, Eva Garcia, Carmen Lim and Romy Bunagan to have their team better in pinfalls.
Lance & 3rdy exhibited another great performance with five of their players lambasting their undermanned opponent with above 600 marks that submitted a lopsided match at 3,696-3,166. Skipper Ric Reformado inspired teammates with his 653 through scratches of 233 and 226. Mac Galang then responded with 641. Toto Lim, Joey Calapatia and team manager Evelyn Santoc followed with 607, 604 and 614. With Ed Tuico's share also at par 577, Lance & 3rdy did not let Jowet Carreon's Bowling Idols pick back despite Ed Sardi?a's 249 and Bob Stone's 222 endgame repulsion.
Earning individual reputation on this session-ender match were Ding dela Rosa and Fedelyn Bustinera who garnered the Bowlers of the Week honor by respectively topping the men and ladies division with their scores of 704 and 695. Dela Rosa bested Sabban Electto Mechanical Company with games of 260, 216 and 228 against Mobily-Globe. Bustinera had scores of 221, 217 and 257 which lifted No Fear 11-9 over understaffed Bowling Is Fun.
Making it to magic five after two-round elimination are Ekis — 591, Sabban — 578, Make My Day — 573, Micah's Pride — 545 and Mobily-Globe
