Ekis and D'Mountaineers rout rivals in FEDBG-FMBL tourney
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 14 - 12 - 2011

Defending champion Ekis XX jetted from 11th to 6th place after blanking BCT Ball Care in the 9th week while D'Mountaineers moved one notch up on their record-setting match against Lance & 3rdy in the 10th session of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group Friday Morning Bowling League (FEDBG-FBL) 11th conference at the Bowling City here.
Well coordinated games made it happened for Ekis when team head Ernie Geslani, Faisal Relativo, Malou Gime, Rudy Carillo and Ruben Gri?o joined hands to enliven fresh-from-vacation Zaldy Bacero who hardly delivered in their 1,237-1,087 initial victory.
With Ball Care fighting back profusely in the next salvo, Bacero let his presence felt with 244 and with solid backup from teammates Ekis widely gapped at 1,261-1,155 in Game 2. Wrecking all rival's fortress the last game turned a piece of cake for Ekis as it completed a 3,662-3,315 conquest including the match-ender 1,164-1,073 on the defense of BCT. Topping Team of the Week outings of Ekis was Geslani with 647, followed by Carillo 625, Gri?o 624, Relativo 607 and Gime 537. Nards Hassan scored best for BCT at 569.
Bowlers of the Week on this hotly contested session were Robert de Guzman who served 690 on Carlos Bustinera-captained Dr. Hassan Hijazi Team's 16-4 (3,503-3,359) domination of Vangie Lim-starred Starframes. Lim defended the Serge Rivera-headed team with Bowler of the week accolade-winning total of 627 with 245 hi-game. De Guzman posted games of 245, 213 and 232.
The tenth week turned out to be the D'Mountaineers show when Ding dela Rosa led the Rudy Jamon-managed team with BOW accolade-winning score of 700. Such sterling performance caused most for D'Mountaineers 16-4 success wherein dela Rosa pleased skipper Joel Nidoy with his games of 178, 274 and 248. Lance & 3rdy dominated Game 1 at 1,214-1,081 with team head Ric Reformado and Rene Punzalan helming with 244 and 230. Lance & 3rdy followed up its rally with team manager Evelyn Santoc hinting with 245 and Reformado planking 208 in Game 2 but D'Mountaineers regrouped for a concrete defense wherein Nidoy backed up dela Rosa with 247. With well balanced games from Robert Stone, Jamon, Malou Nidoy and Aisah Silabay, D'Mountaineers equalized card at 1,274-1,253. D'Mountaineers then bettered offensive for a record setting 1,269 scratch and 1,366 with handicap. Exceptional games of Malou (254), dela Rosa (248), Silabay (232), Jamon (219) and Stone (209) marginally favored D'Mountianeers at new record of 3,721 on Hi-series with handicap which downed Lance & 3rdy at a high losing score of 3,553.
Aligned with dela Rosa's fate was Sally Sa?osa who jubilated when she scored her second female BOW honor on her 652 sparking of Shawly Computer that trounced BCT Ball Care at 18-2 (3,620-3,564). Sa?osa sealed games of 212, 214 and 226 which TC Nestor Sa?osa, Cloyd Ope?a, Edison Arena and Arnel Bautista and Ruel Perez supported with respective totals of 622, 638, 649, 506 and 553. Though loser, BCT Ball Care can be commended for putting up tough fight courtesy of TC Emil Payongayong (594), Mart Lising (584), Benj Espinosa (623), Ric Tibayan (586), Nards Hassan (607) and Eloisa Fernandez (570).
