Two men, ages 24 and 21, were found dead Saturday in a garage in the 1000 block of McKnight Circle. Mohammed Mufti and Amjad Balkhair, both of Saudi Arabia, were first-year Rockford University students, said RU Communications Director Rita Elliott. They were found late Saturday in the garage along with their car and pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m. today at the scene at their off-campus residence. Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz said he found no visible signs of foul play. According to the Rockford Fire Department, carbon monoxide levels were elevated in the garage. The death is under investigation of the Rockford Police Department, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning, Hintz said. Toxicology tests will be available in approximately two weeks.
