The Speaker of Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh opened here today, the Forum on "Terrorism and Terrorist Organizations: Danger and Confrontation" which is organized by the Council at its headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of several members of the Members of Parliament of GCC Shura councils, national councils and assemblies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, and a number of experts and researchers in the field of combating terrorism. The forum started with a speech by the Secretary General of the Shura Council and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Amr, in which he praised the legislative efforts being exerted by GCC legislatures to counter the threat of terrorism and terrorist organizations, as this imminent danger occupies ample space of interesting and care by the GCC Councils. Then, the Speaker of the Shura Council delivered a speech in which he explained that the GCC Member countries have suffered from being targeted by the terrorist organizations, parties and cells with their criminal operations. He said: "Terrorism today has taken serious dimensions in its expansion, proliferation and persistence of extremism and violence; so it has become the focus of attention of politicians, governments and peoples with all its components and spectra." The Shura Council Speaker stressed that the GCC leaders have attached this dangerous phenomenon their close attention to fight it and reduce its risks; so they adopted various intellectual, legislative, security and military measures and procedures that limited the threat of terrorism on the security and stability not only in our Gulf region but also in the Arab region and the whole world. The Shura Council Secretary General, expressed, on behalf of Speakers and Chairmen of GCC legislatures thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister; Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense for their care and attention to the GCC joint parliamentary action, highlighting the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in countering terrorism.
