Saudi non-oil commodity exports value total ups 13.42%

Preliminary data released by the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI) revealed that the total exports of non-petroleum goods of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia amounted to SR 57013 million, up 13.42% in the 3rd quarter 2014 compared to the same period of last year, and imports amounted to SR 169039 million, up 8.4% for the same period of the previous year.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the CDSI reported that the non-oil exports of the total value of imports during this period amounted to 33.72%.
It said that the exports of plastics, rubber and their products ranked first at a value of SR 18600 million, by 32.62% of the total value of non-petroleum commodity exports; the chemical industry products occupied second place at a value of SR 18336 million by 32.16% and transport equipment and their parts thereof ranked third with a value of SR 6475 million by 11.36% of the total value of exports.
The CDSI further said that the sector of machinery, equipment, electrical appliances and parts thereof ranked first with regard to imports in the 3rd quarter of 2014 as the value of the Kingdom's imports of machinery, equipment, electrical appliances and parts thereof reached SR 43471 million, by 25.72% of the total imports; the sector of transport equipment and parts thereof ranked second place with a value of SR 29996 million by 17.74%, and the ordinary metals and their products came in the third place with a total value of SR 20173 million by 11.93%.
It indicated that China ranked first among the Kingdom's exporting and importing countries in the 3rd quarter of 2014, whereas China ranked first in terms of the valued of non-petroleum commodity exports by 11.89% of the total value of exports; then the United Arab Emirates (UAE) came second by 11.60%, followed by India by 6.62%.
In terms of imports, China also ranked first by 14.61% of total imports, followed by the United States of America by 12.74% and then Germany in the third place by 6.70%.
