Ayoon Wa Azan (An Israeli for U.S. President)
Published in AL HAYAT on 05 - 09 - 2013

I once read a phrase in English that says: Never spit in a man's face unless his moustache is on fire. Well, I'm willing to spit on John Bolton's moustache even if it's not on fire, for that's how much I hold this man in contempt.
John Bolton is a despicable man, and one of the basest neocons hostile to Arabs and Muslims. Bolton endorsed all the wars waged by the administration of George W. Bush. Between August 2005 and December 2006, he served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, although he once said, "There's no such thing as the United Nations. If the U.N. secretary building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference."
Bolton is so despicable that the U.S. Senate refused to confirm his appointment as ambassador to the UN, and George W. Bush had to appoint him during Congress's recess. Bolton went on to serve for a short period and resigned before the Senate could vote to sack him.
I would see him inside the UN building during the annual meeting of the General Assembly, and wished I could spit on his moustache that resembles the whiskers of a seal, or even slap him, so that all the media could run with the news and picture of the slap. However, I entered the UN building as a member of an Arab delegation, sometimes two, and it was not appropriate for me to drag any Arab country into an act that would have defied all diplomatic norms.
Now I read that John Bolton is thinking about nominating himself to the U.S. presidency in 2016. If this is true, then he would be Israel's candidate before being America's candidate, and if he wins, then he would be an Israeli president in the White House before being a U.S. president.
I do not wish for Bolton to even get a cold, because he is not worth me forsaking my pacifist tendencies. But I say that just putting his name up for the post is an affront to American democracy.
Indeed, the United States is a leader in human rights, and its reputable presidents like Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Eisenhower overshadow its presidents like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. America also defeated Nazism in Europe and supported the rights of colonized peoples, and launched projects like the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe, and the Point Four program to assist developing nations.
But America's decline has reached such a low that John Bolton is considering running in the presidential race in a superpower with a longstanding noble history. Though I do not expect him to reach the stage of competing for the presidency let alone winning, his candidacy itself is like a worm in the salad, ruining the dish even if it had the best ingredients.
The National Review, a mouthpiece for the neocons and the pro-Israel Likudniks, presented him to its readers in a lengthy interview conducted by Robert Costa who treated Bolton like a sane person, although he, like the publication's editor William Kristol, is a warmonger who believes that the whole world must be subservient to Washington, which, with the likes of these men, is programed to serve Israel before any U.S. interest.
The interview was disgraceful, with John Bolton saying that his theory is that voters are more concerned about national security (read Israel's security) than the media. Bolton's focus on this point reflects the desire of the gang of war and evil to establish an empire led by America and directed by the interests of Israel, in a country that has yet to emerge from a crippling financial crisis unleashed by the same gang during the term of George W. Bush, who was dumb enough to borrow from China to fund war in Iraq, and drive what was once the richest country in the world to bankruptcy.
The person who is a thousand times more suited to be a candidate for the Republican Party is Senator Rand Paul, from the state of Kentucky. Paul is a libertarian, meaning that he advocates less control by Washington and a bigger say for individual states in their own affairs.
Rand is the son of retired Congressman Ron Paul, who was a strong opponent of the war on Iraq, on which he took a stance motivated by American rather than Israeli interests. I hope that Rand Paul will face off in 2016 Hillary Clinton in the presidential. Clinton comes under attack by the Israel gang day after day, and I recently read the headline "Clinton is a Racial Demagogue" in their publications, meaning that she is a true American.
There are others, and I don't know how Bolton's name can be placed with them. I therefore vow, in writing, that if John Bolton becomes the president of the United States, then I shall not visit it until I die or he dies, and I hope that he will go first.
