U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday called on U.N. member states to create a Global Counter-Terrorism Coordinator and thanked Saudi Arabia for its contribution to creating the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center. Ban told a meeting of the Security Council that terrorism is a global scourge that requires a global response. “I am grateful for the contribution of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to create the Counter-Terrorism Centre, and I would like to encourage all of you to contribute to our efforts,” Ban said in his remarks to the council. In September of last year, Saudi Arabia and the United Nations signed an agreement to establish United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center with Saudi Arabia's contribution amounting to $10 million for the establishment of the Center.
