China and Indonesia signed agreements on maritime cooperation and joint action against drug trafficking on Friday after the nations' presidents vowed to expand their "strategic partnership.", dpa reported. Chinese President Hu Jintao told Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono his visit to China would help to "strengthen strategic communication between our two countries and expand practical cooperation." "This is highly significant for taking the China-Indonesia strategic partnership to an even higher level," Hu said before the start of their closed talks. Hu and Yudhoyono witnessed the signing of agreements on maritime cooperation, fighting drug trafficking, trade statistics, Chinese visitors to Indonesia, and a joint oceanography and weather research institute. The Indonesian president was scheduled to meet Premier Wen Jiabao and other Chinese leaders later Friday before travelling to Hong Kong for a two-day visit from Saturday.
