Dutch teenage sailor Laura Dekker reached the Caribbean island of Saint Martin on Saturday, completing a one-year sailing voyage around the world, dpa quoted Dutch news agency ANP as reporting. Dekker, 16, became the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe solo - pausing along the way - when she arrived at 3 pm (1900 GMT) in her sailing boat Guppy. The journey - covering 27,000 nautical miles according to her website - took a year and a day, after she set sail from Saint Martin on January 20, 2011. However, her achievement will not be honoured by the Guinness Book of Records, which has decided to abolish teenage categories, so as not to encourage youngsters to embark on record-breaking stunts. The record as the youngest person to sail non-stop around the world solo is unofficially held by Jessica Watson of Australia, who completed her voyage on May 15, three days before her 17th birthday.
