Akhir 25, 1432, March 30, 2011, SPA -- Prince Faisal Ibn Bandar Ibn Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Province inaugurated here Tuesday evening the 2nd Exhibition of the Packaged Dates. Prince Dr. Faisal Ibn Mishaal Ibn Saud Ibn Abdulaziz, the Vice Governor of the Province, also attended the opening ceremony of the 16-day exhibition, which is organized by the Province's Governorate. More than 200 factories are displaying and marketing a large variety of dates in catchy packages. Immediately on arrival, the Governor toured the venue of the Exhibition including its various pavilions as well as listened to a briefing by the Exhibition's Executive Director Dr. Khaled Al-Naqeidan, who explained about rich and delicious varieties of dates produced and packaged in the province. On conclusion of the tour, Prince Faisal Ibn Bandar expressed admiration for what he had seen at the Expo and praised its organization and the growth process of dates cultivation, processing, packaging and marketing. He said this Expo has become a popular and prominent festival in the Province and is an extension of the main festivals of dates arranged in other provinces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, adding that this is held every year and has become an important tributary for the Province in the field of economic investment. The Governor said dates production and marketing are the highlight of the Province's features on a sound base and fine guidelines that ensure the Province's progress too and extend a superiority status to its dates production, especially Buraidah city zone reserved for the manufacturing of this highly-protein rich food item. He hailed the efforts of the Province's Governorate in the domain of encouraging production and marketing of dates. The opening ceremony was also attended by a number of senior officials.
