Awwal 12, 1432, Feb 15, 2011, SPA-- The 1st Russian Islamic Satellite Channel started here today its experimental broadcast and will start its official broadcast at the end of February or early March. The President of the Russian Council of Ifta (Religious Edict) Sheikh Rawi Ainuddin has pointed out that the Channel will focus on Islamic awareness programs, the explanation of the principles of the Islamic religion and the propagation of Islamic teachings. In a meeting with Muslim scholars from North Caucasus, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said that the establishment of the channel is essential in areas inhabited by Russian Muslims.
