Hijjah 1431/ Nov 14, SPA-- Kaaba dressing was replaced here this morning in accordance with the annual tradition, a process administered by staff of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Holy Mosques in Makkah and the Prophet Mosque in Madinah. The new 14 high meters silk-woven pure gold-trimmed dressing ceremony was broadcasted live. The total cost of manufacturing the new Kaaba dressing amounted to about 20 million Saudi Riyals. Kaaba dressing includes the curtain on the door of Kaaba, a wrought silk, up six and a half meters high and a three meters wide decorated with verses written and prominent Islamic embroidered silver wire covered with gold-plated. The cladding also consists of five connected pieces covering each of the facets of Kaaba and the fifth piece is the curtain that is placed on the door of the Kaaba. The Kaaba is the core of the city of Makkah and lies in the middle of the Holy Mosque that became the home of the tribe of Quraysh and the descendants of prophet Ishmael,( peace be upon him).
