Germany's luxury carmakers have posted further steep rises in sales during July with BMW reporting Monday a 9.1-per-cent surge in deliveries, reported dpa. Munich-based BMW, which is the world's leading premium auto manufacturer, said group sales hit 119,982 compared with 109,933 in July last year. The release of the BMW figures followed similar sales data from the carmaker's German rivals - Audi and Mercedes Benz - as a recovery in the US car market and a boom in demand in China underpins a rebound in the luxury car sector. Stuttgart-based Daimler said this month that sales of its stable of brands, which includes Mercedes Benz, the compact urban Smart and the top-end Maybach, rose by 12.9 per cent year on year in July. Daimler group sales are up 11.8 per cent since the start of the year. Audi, the luxury offshoot of Volkswagen, said its July sales rose by 7.7 per cent to about 91,400 vehicles compared with a year ago. Between January and July Audi sales jumped by 17.4 per cent to about 646,300. In the first seven months of the year, BMW said sales of its group of brands, which includes its flagship BMW model along with the urban Mini and super-luxury Rolls-Royce, jumped by 12.5 per cent.
