The Slovenian and Croatian foreign ministers said today they had made further progress towards resolving their border dispute which has hindered Croatia getting European Union membership, according to dpa. Croatia's Davor Jandrokovic and Slovenia's Samuel Zbogar said their talks in the Slovenian resort of Bled had discussed "major and serious" cooperation which could result in Slovenia eventually lifting its objection to Croatian EU membership. "We're going to agree first on what to say, then make a public statement," said Zbogar after the meeting, which was also attended by Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor. The long-running border row over a patch of land and access to the Adriatic Sea caused EU member Slovenia to block Croatia's accession talks with the EU earlier this year. The row dates back to 1991 when both seceded from then Yugoslavia. The dispute centres on the mutual border at the coastal town of Piran and with it access rights to the Adriatic.
