At least 40 people have been killed and more than 100 injured in a bomb blast in a Baghdad market, dpa cited officials as saying today. The explosion took place in the eastern Sadr City area of the Iraqi capital. Officials said the bomb was hidden underneath a vegetable cart. Other initial reports put the death toll at 55, with 104 injured. The attack - one of the deadliest so far in Iraq this year - comes less than a week before US soldiers withdraw from Iraqi cities, as part of President Barack Obama's promised staged pull out from Iraq.
