Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, Chairman of the Senior Ulema Commission and Religious Research Department and Ifta, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh has made a statement dealing with the issue of family violence and the need for family relations to be built on affection and mercy. The statement has been made in reply to recommendations by the national experts meeting on family violence. The Grand Mufti cited verses from the Holy Quran and the sayings of the prophet, peace be upon him, stressing the importance of compassion and good relations among members of the family and underlining that family violence violates the teachings of Islam. The Grand Mufti explained the gravity of family violence as a great crime and sin and warned against committing it. He highlighted efforts by the kingdom to eliminate family violence.
