Twenty-three pilgrims died and more than 70 were injured as a truck carrying them overturned in north India, police said Tuesday. The dead included six women and two children, said L.K. Yadav, senior superintendent of police of the Punjab state's Roopnagar district. The truck was packed with 97 people when it crashed while making a sharp turn, Yadav was quoted as saying by CNN. The pilgrims were returning from a Hindu shrine in the neighboring hill state of Himachal Pradesh, according to the police.
