Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Ahmed Zinel Ali Reza opened at the Saudi Council of Chambers here today the "5th Meeting of the Saudi-Jordanian Business Council" with the presence of the Council's members.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), after the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Saudi side of the Council, Abdullah bin Abdulmohsen Albazei stated that trade exchange issues, especially those concerning the transport, agricultural products, enhancing the trade movement and overcoming the difficulties faced by investors in both countries, were discussed.
Albazei added that " the most important obstacles which were conveyed by the Saudi side to its Jordanian counterpart are relating to the development of Jordanian border points in order to fit with the easy procedures and speedy movement of the passengers at the Saudi border outlets".
He also announced that "it was agreed to establish a Saudi-Jordanian investment company with capital $ 500 million and its procedures will be completed during the first half of this year".
On his part, the Director General of the Jordanian Chamber of Commerce, Haider Murad said that "the Saudi Jordanian Business Council is one of the most successful councils, which operates regularly in a timely manner, pointing out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the first partner of Jordan".
Murad added in a statement to SPA that "we are working to increase the numbers of trade exchange because there is a desire of businessmen in the two countries to expand trade, investment, tourism and services between them".
Concerning the demands of the Saudi Businessmen to facilitate the trade exchange between the two countries, he said that "there are no problems, but just technical, administrative and bureaucratic obstacles which are responsible for impeding the work, explaining that a technical committee has been assigned to follow up them".
