A joint meeting among Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and the Standing Conference of Audio/video Media in the Mediterranean Basin was convened today at Jeddah InterContinental Hotel under the chairmanship of Dr. Riad Kamal Najm, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information for Engineering Affairs and head of the ASBU. Held on the sidelines of the General Assembly of Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), which was concluded yesterday, this meeting examined several items on the agenda including endorsement of report implemented in 2008 between ASBU, EBU and The Standing Conference, and preparations for the Third International Conference on Electronic Media scheduled to be held in Mexico 11-14/11/2009. Development of the tripartite cooperation in several fields including radio and television production, training and archiving. In a press statement after the meeting, Dr. Riad Kamal Najm stated that the meeting discussed the topics relevant to the three organizations, primarily holding common training courses in Arab and EU regions. He pointed out that the meeting addressed the topics of joint production, and production of a series to introduce the cultures and communities on the Mediterranean that will be started early in 2009.
