A four-way summit among President Bashar al-Assad, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was held at the People's Palace in Damascus on Thursday morning SANA reported.
President al-Assad stressed that Damascus Summit which joins together French President Nicolas Sarkozy, The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Turksih Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is an important summit. Syria presides over the Arab Summit, France is the current President of the European Union, Qatar chairs the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Turkey plays an important role in the region and serves as mediator in the indirect peace talks between Syria and Israel.
