The Chairman of Shoura Council Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Homaid met here today with the Speaker of Turkish Nation Council Koksal Toptan currently visiting the Kingdom at an official invitation of Shoura Council. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. bin Homaid welcomed the Speaker of Turkish Nation Council and the accompanying delegation, expressing his best thanks and appreciation to the Speaker for accepting the invitation of the Shoura Council to visit the Kingdom, which comes in support of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields. He noted the deep ties between the two countries, describing them as historical and consistent. He talked about the recent visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to the Republic of Turkey and its significant, prominent and productive results at all levels, stressing the need to intensify efforts to develop areas of cooperation and development. The Chairman of Shoura Council highlighted the keenness of the Republic of Turkey to activate the social aspects between the two countries, citing the recent participation of the Republic of Turkey in the National Festival for Heritage and Culture "Al-Janadriyah". For his part, the Speaker of Turkish Nation Council expressed his thanks to and appreciation of the Chairman of Shoura Council Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Homaid for inviting him to visit the Kingdom, expressing the keenness of his government and people to strengthen the relations with the Kingdom as it has a high position in all areas. He valued the great efforts exerted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to serve Islam and Muslims and to support the peace and security. He also commended the Kingdom's efforts to serve pilgrims and the development of infrastructure in the holy sites. The Turkish Speaker noted bilateral relations between the Kingdom and his country, which witnessed continual development in all areas, valuing the continuing support of the Kingdom for his country citing the support for the candidacy of Turkey at the UN Security Council and the support of the Kingdom to nominate two representatives of his country to be General Secretaries of the Islamic World Organization and the Federation of Parliamentary Assemblies of Islamic States. Issues of common interest were discussed during the meeting. The meeting was attended by a number of officials.
