A woman operator who was severely hurt in the oil depot fire in Makhachkala died in the burns-treating centre at the republic's central clinic overnight, a source at the Emergencies Ministry's Daghestan department told Itar-Tass on Saturday. Alzhanat Pashayeva, 29, had burns of 100 percent of her body. There were practically no chances to save her, a duty physician said. The fire broke out at the Dagnefteproduct oil depot in Makhachkala on Thursday evening. There was an explosion near a 10,000-tonne tank, but oil did not leak from there, emergencies ministry sources said. The fire was extinguished almost 24 hours after it broke out -- by 18:00 Moscow time on Friday. An investigation group of specialists from the Federal Security Service, Interior Ministry and other services is working at the site. What caused the explosion and the fire is not established yet.
