In supplement to the announcement on 13-12-1428 H. (during the Hajj season last year) about the arrest of 28 elements of the deviant group in Makkah region, Madinah, Riyadh and the Northern Borders, an official source at the Interior Ministry noted that investigations conducted in this respect proved that the arrested persons belonged to the deviant group; had contacts with leading elements at al-Qaeda organization abroad, and received directions to re-build the deviant organization and start a terror campaign inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Preparations for carrying out those criminal plots reached advanced stages and work was underway to find dens for their cells, forge the documents which facilitate their movements and arrange for an organized media campaign through the internet for spreading their deviated thought, misleading the youth, sending them to other regions, and involving them in acts which undermine security and offend their homeland and fellow citizens. At an early stage, the security forces watched a number of their elements raising funds under the pretext of charitable work to collect the required sums of money to finance their criminal activities. The security forces managed to arrest one of them after he met with a person who arrived in Makkah coming from abroad and carrying a memory card of a mobile phone containing a message from Ayman Aldhwahiri. The message contained a recommendation for the person who led this group to be able through it to collect money under the pretext of assisting the needy families in Pakistan and Afghanistan in line with their habit of presenting a proof requested by collaborators to verify their belonging to al-Qaeda. --more
