At least nine people were killed and dozens more were injured when an overcrowded jeep plunged off a mountainous highway in western Nepal, according to DPA. The jeep plummeted off the narrow mountain road in Gulmi district, about 300 kilometres west of Kathmandu, police said. At least 30 people were injured and many were in serious condition. Police said they suspected overcrowding could have led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
