Dennis Kucinich, a long-shot candidate for Democratic presidential nomination, announced the end of his campaign on Friday and said he would head back to Ohio to defend his position as congressman. “I won't be president, but I can continue to fight for these important issues as the United States congressman representing the community that is first in my heart, Cleveland, Ohio,” he said. A six-term member of the House of Representatives, Kucinich received only 1 percent of the vote in the New Hampshire presidential primary and was shut out in the Iowa caucuses. His second run for president – his first bid was in 2004 – was widely perceived as a long-shot, but he insisted on participating in debates and traveling to primary states, despite the odds.
