According to a report issued by the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will invest more than $64 billion in building a solid base for the information technology. Abdullah al-Ansari, the head of the organizing committee of the 18th conference for the Arab federation for libraries and data, which is currently in progress here, said this development will positively contribute to the development of the economic and industrial sectors and will serve the trend for an electronic government which focuses on the existence of an integrated technology. He underscored, in a press statement here yesterday, the importance of extending support to the researches which lead to innovation. Al-Ansari called for establishing free digital libraries on the internet as well as open archive. He noted that free accession to the data can be realized through usage of information technology and making indexes available. Al-Ansari also called for establishing a scientific Arab library which positively contributes to the development of scientific research.
