Salam Palace on 12 Sha'ban 1427 H. the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Anqari accompanied by the Director of King Saud University Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Faisal, Director of King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan and a number of faculty members at the two Universities who obtained patents, the monarch said about the idea of establishing the university that "I have been thinking to establish this university for twenty-five years. We thank God for helping us in achieving its establishment and you will be its good seed. The University will be opened for your brothers the scientists and inventors from Arab and Islamic worlds". The University aims to foster talented and creative people and researchers in addition to support national industries, to create new industries based on knowledge and national economy, and to increase GDP. It will have the ability to generate ideas and transform them into inventions. The University also aims to provide a stimulating and attractive environment to attract distinguished scientists from various parts of the Kingdom and the world in addition to attract and foster creative and talented students in knowledge-based industries in the Kingdom. It also aims to develop graduate studies in the fields related to advanced techniques that serve the national development and economy in addition to contribute to the development of knowledge in the fields of modern technology. --More
