Dr. Abdullah bin Salih Al-Obeid, Minister of Education, congratulated students, teachers, administrators and parents on the successful end of last academic year, wishing them a new successful one, schedules to commence tomorrow. In an address to mark the 1428/1429 H. academic year, Dr. Al-Obeid recalled that the main objective of our mission is to protect our religion and nation and to obey our rulers. He called for intensifying efforts for protecting the society's values, ethics and behavior and acquiring science and knowledge at the same time. We have not to just and always recall our rich history of victories and inventions. Instead, we have to get benefit from the current scientific progress by learning and training how to possess the world's most advanced sciences and inventions and then contribute to new adventures. He said we have only one way to choose: education, learning and training, a mission he said is shared between the school, home and society. He cited some sayings of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) urging for taking care of children. To this effect, the minister said the government, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, crowned the efforts of the Ministry of Education in the field of providing modern education for our children by introducing King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Project for Developing General Education, currently being implemented under the sponsorship of a ministerial committee, headed by Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, aiming at developing the curricula, training of teachers, providing better educational environment and out-of-the-class activities which the Ministry is planning to commence during this academic year.
