Published in Saudi Press Agency on 04 - 06 - 2007

VICE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES PRINCE SULTAN
BIN ABDULAZIZ AL SAUD CHAIRED THE CABINET'S WEEKLY SESSION HELD HERE TODAY.
AT THE OUTSET OF THE SESSION, THE VICE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES
BRIEFED THE COUNCIL ON THE CONSULTATIONS AND CONTACTS HE MADE OVER THE
PREVIOUS DAYS WITH MANY STATE LEADERS ON REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL
DEVELOPMENTS.
IN A STATEMENT TO SAUDI PRESS AGENCY FOLLOWING THE SESSION, MINISTER OF
ECONOMY AND PLANNING AND ACTING MINISTER OF CULTURE AND INFORMATION KHALID
BIN MOHAMMAD ALQUSAIBI SAID THE CABINET REITERATED THE IMPORTANCE OF
LEBANON'S STABILITY, SECURITY, INDEPENDENCE AND SAFETY AS WELL AS CONCORD
AND UNDERSTANDING IN LEBANON FOR THE INTEREST OF LEBANON AND ITS PEOPLE.
THE CABINET HOPED THE SECURITY COUNCIL'S RESOLUTION NUMBER 1757 ESTABLISHING
AN INTERNATIONAL COURT TO TRY THE ACCUSED IN THE ASSASSINATION OF FORMER
LEBANESE PREMIER RAFIQ ALHARIRI WILL BRING JUSTICE AND PUT AN END TO
ASSASSINATIONS SUFFERED BY LEBANON AND THE LEBANESE DURING THE LAST YEARS,
ALQUSAIBI SAID.
ALQUSAIBI ADDED THAT ON DEVELOPMENTS IN THE PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES, THE
CABINET STATED THAT ISRAEL'S CONSTANT AGGRESSION REQUIRES AN INTERNATIONAL
UNIFIED AND DECISIVE POSITION TO STOP PALESTINIAN BLOODSHED AS A RESULT OF
THIS ESCALATION; TO FORCE ISRAEL TO ADHERE TO INTERNATIONAL LEGITIMACY
RESOLUTIONS AND BILATERAL AGREEMENTS, AND TO WORK TOWARDS ACTIVATING
INTERNATIONAL EFFORTS TO PUT IN MOTION THE PEACE PROCESS IN LINE WITH THE
IMPORTANT ROLE OF THE INTERNATIONAL QUARTET COMMITTEE WHICH ENDED A MEETING
IN BERLIN RECENTLY AND THE ARAB PEACE INITIATIVE.
AS REGARDS DOMESTIC AFFAIRS, ALQUSAIBI SAID THAT THE CABINET STRESSED THE
SOLIDITY AND STRENGTH OF THE SAUDI ECONOMY AND ITS FUTURE.
ALQUSAIBI POINTED OUT THAT THE VICE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES
STRESSED THAT, UNDER THE DIRECTIVES OF THE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES
KING ABDULLAH BIN ABDULAZIZ, THE ECONOMIC POLICY ALWAYS SEEKS TO ENHANCE THE
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS, BUILD MODERN ECONOMIC INSTITUTIONS, CREATE AN
ENCOURAGING ENVIRONMENT FOR INVESTMENT AND ASSERT HARMONIZATION BETWEEN
OUTPUTS OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING ON THE ONE HAND, AND LABOR MARKET
REQUIREMENTS ON THE OTHER. "THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE GOVERNMENT'S
DETERMINATION TO ENHANCE THE SAUDI ECONOMY'S ATTRACTIVENESS TO FOREIGN
INVESTMENT AND TO INCREASE ITS ABILITY TO FACE THE CHALLENGES AND CONTINUE
MOVING TO A BRIGHT FUTURE", HE ADDED.
