Four elderly people died and more than a dozen others fell ill from food poisoning at a nursing home in the southern Australian city of Melbourne, officials said Saturday. Twenty-one of the thirty residents at the Broughton Hall home have fallen sick since gastroenteritis _ believed to be from salmonella _ was detected on April 5, according to AP. «There has been four deaths associated with the outbreak,» said Rosemary Lester, an official with the Victoria state Department of Human Services. Lester said she believed the outbreak has been brought under control, although a 93-year-old woman remains seriously ill in a hospital. The source of the outbreak was not known. Victoria's coroner and the Human Services department were investigating the deaths. -- SPA
