Pakistan's exports recorded

Pakistan s exports recorded an increase of 3.86 percent to $ 10.906 billion during July-February, 2006-07 compared to $ 10.501 billion in the corresponding period of last year.
According to the figures complied by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the exports increased by 8.24 percent in February, 2007 to $ 1.296 billion when compared with $ 1.197 billion in January, 2007 and by 5.45 percent as compared to February, 2006 $ 1.229 billion.
Exports during July-February 2006-07 totalled Pak Rs 661.044 billion as against Rs 627.469 billion during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 5.35 percent.
Exports in February 2007 amounted to Rs 78.704 billion compared to Rs 72.887 billion in January, 2007 and Rs 73.596 billion during February, 2006 showing an increase of 7.98 percent over January 2007 and of 6.94 percent over February, 2006.
Main commodities of exports during February, 2007 were cotton cloth (Rs.9,347 million), knitwear (Rs.7,745 million), bed wear (Rs.7,668 million), cotton yarn (Rs.6,727 million), readymade garments (Rs.6,043 million), rice others (Rs.3,512 million), rice basmati (Rs.3,016 million), art, silk and synthetic textile (Rs.2,711 million), towels (Rs.2,448 million) and madeup articles (Rs.2,445 million).
Imports during July-February, 2006-07 amounted to $ 19.797 billion as against $ 18.006 billion during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 9.95 percent.
In February, 2007, imports surged by 10.39 percent to $ 2.572 billion as compared to January, 2007 $ 2.330 billion and by 16.37 percent as compared to February, 2006 $ 2.210 billion.
Imports during July-February, 2006-07 went up by 11.53 percent to Rs 1.200 trillion as against Rs 1.076 trillion during the corresponding period last year.
Imports, during February, 2007 amounted to Rs 156.220 billion as against Rs 141.851 billion in January, 2007 and Rs 132.372 billion during February, 2006 showing an increase of 10.13 percent over January, 2007 and 18.02 percent over February, 2006 respectively.
Main commodities of imports during February, 2007 were petroleum crude (Rs.17,214 million), aircrafts, ships and boats (Rs.16,964 million), petroleum products (Rs.13,769 million) plastic materials (Rs.6,490 million), iron and steel (Rs.6,354 million), raw cotton Rs.5,425 million), other apparatus (Telecom) (Rs.5,252 million), mobile phone (Rs.4,905 million), palm oil (Rs.4,807 million) and electrical machinery and apparatus (Rs.3,082 million).
The balance of trade figures cumulative from July-February, 2006-07 were (-) 538.979 billion in terms of rupees and (-) 8.890 billion in dollars.
In February, the balance of trade was (-) 77.516 billion in terms of rupees and (-) 1.276 billion in dollars.
