A large fire caused important damage to a hotel on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura overnight, prompting the evacuation of 125 employees and their family members none of whom were injured, Spanish police said in a statement carried by DPA on Friday. Police had earlier said that most of those evacuated were tourists. The fire spread rapidly in a building housing employees, damaging 75 rooms, in the Hotel Aldiana Club in the tourist resort of Morro Jable in the south of the island. It took firefighters an hour to extinguish the blaze, the cause of which was not known.
