Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Handicapped Children Society, inaugurated here on Monday a symposium on causes of the heritable disability: diagnosis, preventive measures and treatment. The symposium was organized by the department of heritable medicine at Riyadh-based King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center. During the 2-day symposium, 30 lectures on issues pertaining to disability and retardation will be delivered at eight scientific sessions. Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Dr Hamad Al-Mani said a number of local and international specialists in the field of disability and retardation are participating in the symposium. On his part, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz highlighted the significant role being played by Prince Salman Center for Disability Research in the service of handicapped and retarded people. He pointed out that cooperation exists between Prince Salman Center for Disability Research and King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the service of the handicapped people. 'Thanks to the great attention given by the concerned officials to the health sector, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia tops the Arab countries in the field of extending services to the handicapped people', he said. The function was attended by a number of officials.
