D and 4-D seismic, well logging, smart wells, directional wells and steer-able drill bits have allowed us to increase our understanding of what is happening deep underground. Our knowledge has also been greatly enhanced by a quantum leap in computing power, which has allowed the oil industry to develop large complex computer models. These models help us to better understand the on-going processes within the reservoir which are essential to understanding the size of recoverable reserves.
