six people died Tuesday in southeastern Slovenia in what has been described as one of the worst road accidents in the country in years, STA news agency said. The official death toll from the multiple-vehicle pileup, which occurred during the afternoon on a road near the town of Trebnje, has not been confirmed. Reports said over a dozen vehicles had been involved in the pileup, believed to have happened when a van slammed into an oncoming car transporter. Police said many of the vehicles had been completely burned out making it difficult to assess how many had died. -- SP 2317 Local Time 2017 GMT
