Egyptian stocks slid on Tuesday as retail investors, spooked by falls in the previous session, sold stocks including Orascom Telecom (OT), and Oriental Weavers , traders said. The benchmark Hermes index finished 2.6 percent lower at 34,949.03 points, but ended off a session low of 34,350.99 points. The index had surged to an all-time high above 40,000 points last week. The broader CIBC index ended down 2.2 percent at 143.63 points. "The market pretty much reversed half-way through the session. We hit rock bottom on the prices and this triggered buying from institutions," Yasser Hassanein of Dynamic Securities said. "We've had all the results in. We're looking for something new," he said. OT ended down 1.7 percent lower, despite comments by OT Chairman Naguib Sawiris on Monday that the firm was confident it would win a dispute over a deal to buy additional stakes in its Tunisian subsidiary. --More 1817 Local Time 1517 GMT
