Norway's unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent at the end of February from 4.1 percent both in January and for February 2004, the state labor directorate said Thursday. Adjusted for seasonal variations, it was the fourth straight month of declining unemployment. "The job market is still improving," said Labor Director Inger-Johanne Stokke. "Unemployment in recent months has declined in industry, construction and engineering." The agency said 91,107 of Norway's 4.6 million residents were registered as unemployed at the end of February, compared with 96,718 in January and 96,875 a year earlier.
