Diriyah witnessed Friday evening the start of Core Diriyah ePrix 2023, which is the second round of the ABB Formula E World Championship, in its 9th season, a round that will finish later today, Saturday. Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) and the Saudi Motorsports Company, along with Deputy Minister of Sports, Badr bin Abdurrahman Al-Qadi have crowned the winners, as the German Pascal Wehrlein, the race car driver for "Tag Heuer Porsche Formula E" team, won the first place in the first round of CORE Diriyah ePrix 2023, and the second round of ABB Formula E World Championship, while the British Jake Dennis, the race car driver for "Avalanche Andretti Autosport" team, succeeded in finishing second in the race, and British Sam Bird, the racing driver for "Jaguar TCS" team, won third of the rankings. Diriyah circuit witnessed Friday the first participation of the third-generation cars, which are characterized by their development and speed, compared to the cars of the previous first and second generations. Third-generation cars are also lighter in weight and more sustainable in terms of battery power, which can provide outstanding performance with a total power of about 600 kilowatts. The events of the Core Diriyah ePrix 2023 will continue today, Saturday with the second round of the race and the third of the world championship being held, so that the participating contestants will continue their long journey in this season, which passes through 16 rounds for a period of seven months, in a number of countries around the world.
