Floods and landslides that struck various parts of the Philippines recently have left 44 people dead and affected over 500,000 people, the national disaster agency said on Friday, according to dpa. Twenty-eight people were still unaccounted for, while over 56,800 were displaced and forced to stay in evacuation centres or with friends and relatives, it said. Most of the missing were fishermen who went out to sea despite the bad weather, disaster and local officials said. Damage to agriculture and infrastructure was estimated to be worth over 1.41 billion pesos (25 million dollars), the disaster agency said.
