The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the 31st meeting of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation )COMSTECH), which was held here and chaired by Pakistani President Dr. Arif Alvi, and with the participation of a number of senior officials of the Islamic world members of the committee. The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was headed by the President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Dr. Munir bin Mahmoud El-Desouki, who spoke about the pivotal transformation witnessed by the research, development and innovation sector in the Kingdom in light of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, stressing the Kingdom's keenness to share its experience and success stories achieved from this transformation with the countries of the Islamic world. El-Desouki indicated that the national aspirations and priorities for research, development and innovation announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, focus on human health, environmental sustainability, leadership in energy and industry, and future economies, to make the Kingdom one of the pioneers of innovation in the world, and contributing to the development and diversification of the national economy in a way that enhances the Kingdom's global competitiveness as the largest economy in the region. The Committee stressed the importance of including topics related to the future plan and the role of member states in achieving COMSTECH's tasks within the agenda of the 16th General Assembly of COMSTECH to be held during the second quarter of 2023.
