Four Individuals, Four Institutions Win First Edition of King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language Award

King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) yesterday announced winners of the first edition of its award for 2022 with its four categories: teaching and learning the Arabic language; computing the Arabic language and its services with modern technologies; research of the Arabic language and its scientific studies; and spreading linguistic awareness and innovating linguistic community initiatives, for both individuals and institutions.
KSGAAL Acting Secretary General Dr. Abdullah Al-Washmi considered caring for the Arabic language as part of its being an important and essential part of the national identity, saying: "The award aims at enhancing the Arab cultural identity, boosting fields of the Arabic language and its literature, and providing individuals with opportunities to linguistic innovation and creativity at the local and international levels."
Al-Washmi noted that the winner at the level of individuals in the category of teaching and learning the Arabic language is Dr. Yoon Oun Kyong of South Korea who published around 70 research pieces and publications.
The winner of this category for the level of institution is the Arabic for All Company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the excellence of its products at the scientific level and its contributions to developing the teaching of Arabic to non-speakers.
As for the computing the Arabic language and its services with modern technologies at the level of individuals, the winner is Dr. Nizar Yahya Habash of the US, whose research pieces are characterized by richness.
Winner of this category at the level of institutions is the Engineering Company for Digital Systems Development of Egypt for its role in enriching the fields of treating the Arabic language for more than 30 years.
As for the category of research of the Arabic language and its scientific studies at the level of individuals, Dr. Al-Azhar Al-Zanad of Tunisia won the award for his rich academic scientific activities in serving the Arabic language and for publishing 25 books and 16 research pieces in language and literature.
Al-Faisal Cultural House of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won the award for the level of institutions in appreciation for its activities known for diversity and richness in scientific initiatives and projects.
As for the spreading linguistic awareness and innovating linguistic community initiatives category at the level of individuals, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Harbi of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won the award for creating linguistic and scientific initiatives and scientific, cultural and media activities on the internet.
At the level of institutions, Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) won the award for launching several qualitative projects in various geographical zones, including Arab and non-Arab countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
