The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will hold the fifth session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM) under the slogan "Development of Youth and Sports to Build a Solidarity Nation" on 7-9 September, 2022, in Jeddah. The conference is scheduled to discuss the situation of youth in the member states of the organization and the importance attached by the OIC and its relevant bodies to develop youth and sports. It also seeks to enhance the capabilities of youth and advance their role in development in order to pave the way for stability, progress, and prosperity, in addition to combating extremist and violent ideas called for by terrorist organizations, as well as encouraging dialogue, moderation, tolerance and respect for others. The conference will also discuss the commitment of member states to implement the organization's two guiding strategies for youth and to develop sports in order to promote joint Islamic action in the field of youth and sports. The conference will also review the efforts made by member states and OIC bodies working in the field of youth and sports, led by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Women Development Organization (WDO), among others.
