The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), will host, tomorrow, the last coordination meetings of the Arab League's Working Group, and the regions of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to prepare for the Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 (PP-22), which will run from 28 to 31 August in Riyadh. The meetings led by the Kingdom aim to unify efforts and broaden the horizons of cooperation between Arab countries and various regions by discussing joint contributions and overcoming obstacles that may obstruct courses of action, as the Kingdom works to build partnerships to achieve digital readiness and to lead the international digital economy as one of the G20 countries. The preparatory meetings between representatives of the six ITU regions seek to discuss directions, converge views and reach a consensus before heading to the Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 (PP-22), which will be held in Bucharest, Romania, next September. The Kingdom's hosting of the two meetings comes as part of its multiple initiatives, which reflect its position and roles and its effective participation in international decision-making. It also enhances the Kingdom's efforts to support the objectives of the ITU as a strategic partner in implementing its outputs and achieving sustainable development goals, and as a key player in promoting a culture of excellence and creativity in telecommunications and IT at the international level as an active ITU member for 57 years.
