SFDA Monitors 291 Violations During 4,677 Inspection Tours in June

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) monitored 291 violations in facilities under its supervision, during 4,677 inspection tours in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in June this year.
SFDA stated that it carried out 2,445 inspection tours to food facilities, 280 to pesticides and feed facilities, and 1,535 to pharmaceutical facilities and medical devices, in addition to routine visits and smart inspections.
The Authority indicated that it closed 11 facilities due to not obtaining a license or for reasons related to the safety of the product. It also stopped five production lines, and fined four facilities for carrying out the activity without a license, in addition to destroying 8,488 packages.
SFDA carried out 1,248 monitoring and investigation tours to investigate unknown warehouses, violating products, unlicensed facilities and warehouses, and track and trace advertisements, electronic accounts and their owners, in addition to tracking product sources.
It also indicated that the number of consignments received through the ports where the Authority is present reached 26,888 consignments for 99,390 products, 6,427 of those consignments were cleared by inspection and 334 consignments were rejected, while 20,12) consignments were cleared without inspection (risk based clearance).
SFDA carries out monitoring campaigns and periodic inspection tours of the facilities under its supervision in cooperation with the relevant authorities, to verify their compliance with the requirements of technical regulations and approved food specifications.
It called on consumers to report any such violations by calling the unified number (19999) or via the Tammini app available on the IOS and Android.
