Arab Parliament Speaker Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoomi welcomed the outcomes of the Jeddah Summit for Security and Development hosted by Saudi Arabia with the participation of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, and the United States of America. In a press statement issued Saturday, Al-Asoomi stressed the importance of this summit in strengthening Arab-US relations and opening new horizons of coordination and cooperation to address the security and economic challenges witnessed by the Arab region, preserve regional security and stability, and secure a better future for current and next generations. Al-Asoomi expressed the Arab Parliament's full support for all Arab and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region, adding that holding the summit under the security and development theme reflects the delicate situation the region is going through and its urgent need to achieve security and stability, while at the same time pushing forward development efforts, especially in light of the current global economic crisis and its intertwined repercussions on the Arab countries. The Speaker praised the speeches delivered by leaders and representatives of Arab countries during this summit, which provided an accurate analysis of the crises and the challenges the region is facing. He stressed that the Summit's final statement included various pressing security and development issues, expressing the Arab Parliament's aspiration that the outcomes of the summit would contribute to the development of non-traditional solutions to the challenges facing the Arab region. Al-Asoomi valued the tireless efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense for the success of the summit, which reflects the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the Arab, regional and international levels.
